Professionalism & Dedication
Prof. Asc. Dr. Ali Tonuzi is a vitreoretinal surgeon with over 30 years of clinical and academic experience in the field of ophthalmology. He heads the Core Unit in the ENT-Ophthalmology Department of the Faculty of Medicine in Tirana and performs surgery at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center.
A Doctor of Medical Sciences since 2002 and Associate Professor since 2012, Prof. Tonuzi completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and the management of retinal diseases at Aravind Eye Hospital, India.
He has presented his work at international congresses such as ESCRS, EURETINA and SEEOS, and has published over 30 scientific articles. He has pioneered several surgical techniques in Albania, including small-gauge vitrectomy, scleral fixation of intraocular lenses and the treatment of diabetic retinopathy with Anti-VEGF.
